Christmas preparations started early this year for us here at The Friendship Project for Children! At the end of September, we held a craft morning in Coventry for all the children on our scheme and together with their volunteer helpers, (and with the help of lots of glitter and glue, stickers and sequins!) we produced hundreds of beautifully decorated homemade stars for the children to take home to decorate their own trees.

The brightest of these stars was used to produce this year’s Friendship Project Christmas card, which we are now selling to raise awareness of what we do and to raise additional funds so that we can continue helping other children in the local area.

The Friendship Project, now in its 30th year, helps vulnerable and disadvantaged children throughout North Warwickshire and we do this by matching a child in need with a suitable volunteer “older friend” who takes their “younger friend” out for a few hours a week to give them time out from often difficult home situations. We are always looking for new volunteers, so if you too could “be a star” and could spare just a few hours a week, we would love to hear from you! All our volunteers must be over 18 and have access to a car, and also be prepared to undergo an enhanced DBS check. We also ask for a minimum 6 month commitment. In return we offer you the chance to really make a difference to a child’s life and we reimburse expenses and offer training and guidance throughout your friendship.
