Friday 13th July, 2pm until 4pm – Presentation to National Citizens Challenge – volunteers sought
Prior to our event on 21st we have to present to the the group of volunteers around 12 15-17 year olds about the Friendship Project, and help them to understand our requirements for the event and for them to know more about us, as they will be also promoting and seeking volunteers for us on Sunday 22nd July in Stratford upon Avon following the fun event they are preparing for 21st July (see below). Ideally we would like a few volunteers (or with a Younger friend if they are feeling brave enough to speak – though appreciate this is a bit of long shot) prepared to come along to Foundation House, Masons Road, Stratford-upon-Avon, CV37 9NF to talk to the group, and if you are willing to do so please let your area coordinator know. There is free car parking at this venue. There maybe a potential to talk on Welcombe radio too after this, though will need to know if you are prepared to do so in advance.
Saturday 21st July, 11.30am to 1.30pm/2.00pm – Orienteering and Nature Trail, with short nature quiz, picnic, garden games in conjunction with the National Citizens Challenge, Stratford Armories and the Forest of Hearts, at Snitterfield
For those that enjoyed a great event at Hill Close Gardens last year we are again working with the National Citizens Challenge for similar event this year just outside Stratford and just off the A46, with parking. The young adult volunteers aged 15-17 will be helping to run the nature event, plus providing traditional garden games with hula hoops, and activities, alongside providing a picnic for the children. it was a fantastic spread last year. Our volunteers will be given a voucher for £5 each to use in the Vintage Tea rooms on site for their own use too. If wet (well the weather will break at some point) then we will have a treasure hunt around the Armories and picnic there instead. This event takes place immediately behind Stratford Armories www.stratfordarmouries.com Gospel Oak Lane, Snitterfield, Stratford-upon-Avon CV37 0JA. You will need to come up the drive to the Armories then turn immediate right just before the building and our car parking is around the back, rather than the front, and we will be based on the lawn/field there. Please let your area coordinators know if you and your YF are able to attend, or if it is YF only then we will see if we can get another volunteer to take responsibility for the day. It maybe be feasible for you to bring along their siblings subject to carer/parental approval and If you would like to do this then please liaise with your area coordinator.
Sunday 22nd July – Tombola and Information stall at Nuneaton & Bedworth Community Fair 10.00am til 4.00pm
We will be having a stall and tombola at this event, and would appreciate any tombola prizes or unwanted gifts that you would like to re-home, though no alcohol, per the organisers request. If you feel able to help out by manning the stall for part of the day then please let Viv.Kelsey@friendshipproject.co.uk know, or are able to donate prizes let either Viv or our chairman cheryll.rawbone@friendshipproject.co.uk know. For those not aware we have recently appointed a new area coordinator in North Warwickshire and are actively seeking volunteers there, where we have 32 children currently on our waiting list.
